ELEMENTARY BALLET (6/7 yr olds)
This will be an introductory class to classical ballet using the movement-based expressive arts. Students in the elementary ballet class will explore basic movements that encompass classical ballet training including bending, extending, turning, darting, jumping, and rising. The class will be structured, but will focus more on engendering a joyful experience of dance for each student. Students will be given opportunity for individual creative expression that celebrates their individual gifts. Group discussions at the end of each class will foster self-esteem. Parents are invited to attend and participate in the last class of the session.
Attire: Elementary ballet students with long hair should have it up and off their neck. Any color leotard is acceptable with pink tights (pink tights are the acceptable color for ballet class). Soft ballet slippers that fit snugly, but not tightly, are required. No jewelry or loose hair.
